Matteo Michels Drafted in First Round of WHL Draft
Matteo Michels, 8th grade Wolf, was drafted in the 1st round of the WHL draft!

The Michels family moved to Grapevine in 2009, and Matteo attended Colleyville Elementary School, where his brother Maddox is currently attending 2nd grade and also plays hockey. Matteo started playing hockey at 5-years-old, and made the Stars Elite AAA team, by the time he was eligible, at 8-years-old; he has been training with them since. Both of his parents are Canadian and Matteo has dual citizenship, so hockey has always been a part of their lives. Matteo is still very close with his cousins in Canada who also play hockey.

Matteo's short term goals are to continue to develop and hopefully be signed by a Major Junior league. From there, he hopes to continue to be noticed and further develop into a NHL draft prospect. Matteo still has high goals academically and carries a 95% average as as student athlete. Post hockey, Matteo has been inspired by his own injuries, and wants to continue his education in the medical field as a sports orthopedic surgeon.

When asked about his favorite thing about CTMS, Matteo said loves the CTMS community and how supportive Principal Fingers, his teachers, and iUniversity Prep has been, regarding his chaotic training and travel schedule. This school year he participated in six out-of-state which tournaments, which caused him to miss school, and his teachers were very cooperative and patient in allowing him to catch up. Matteo loves the social aspect of the group work interaction at CTMS and hanging out with his friends at lunch.

Matteo also loves to play Colleyville lacrosse with the 7/8 Mustang Panther team and also played soccer with CTMS on the B team last year. Please give a Wolf Hooooooooowl to Matteo!
