Teacher of the Year
Sterling BristowMr. Sterling Bristow always had a desire to learn math! He competed in math competitions starting with UIL in 4th grade all the way to the Calculus Bowl in college. His favorite part of math is working with his friends to try to solve a really tough problem, and he hopes to provide opportunities for his students to experience the same! He received a math degree from Abilene Christian University in 2017. In college, he served as a Calculus 1 & 2 tutor for the mathematics department, and taught SAT math courses through Sylvan Learning Center. This is his third year teaching at Cross Timbers (howwwwllllll!), and he teaches Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2/Precalculus, coaches the math/science team, and is also the tennis coach this year!

Mr. Bristow and his beautiful wife Kristin started dating as seniors in high school. They went to college together and got married after graduating in 2017. Kristin is a 3rd year medical student at UT Southwestern, and is planning to specialize in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. They have a golden retriever named Sadie, and are expecting their first baby Bristow in September!

When asked about hobbies, he said, "I'm lucky because I have the most fun teaching math, coaching the math team, and coaching tennis, which I get to do every day! When I'm not doing those things, I like to play disc golf, run, hike, or anything else outdoors."

Mr. Bristow's favorite useless skills are juggling and memorizing digits of pi.

His favorite branch of math is Graph Theory, and favorite problem in math is the Collatz Conjecture. He says that both of these are really advanced topics that kids can understand at a very young age!
