Update (3 p.m.): Thank you to families and staff for your flexibility during today’s Secure Protocol. Secure was called as a precaution due to finding a bullet while cleaning the stage in the cafeteria. Immediately, the SRO locked the cafeteria and searched the area. Additionally, our campus immediately contacted our Safety and Security team who continued to monitor the situation. The secure was lifted after determining that the area was contained.

Update (2:38 p.m.): The “Secure” at O.C. Taylor Elementary has been lifted. The precautionary investigation is focused on the cafeteria, which is currently closed. EDP will meet in the library.

Dismissal will begin on schedule.

During this time, you may be aware that a police officer was also on site in the bus loop. This was in response to a normal traffic stop and not related to the secure.

Original message (2:38 p.m.): O.C. Taylor Elementary has been placed in a “Secure.” When Secure is called, students and staff remain inside the building and conduct business as usual. Exterior doors remain locked and visitors will not be granted access to the school. This was called to conduct a precautionary investigation within the building, but the campus continues business as usual inside.
